Özet: The topic of this work is the lifestyle migration which is qualified as an atypical form of migration, destination thereof being relatively less economically-developed areas, virgin places. The field which has so far been expanded and developed in the literature in relation to the elderly population and tourism research is conceptualized through different perspectives as international retirement migration, life style migration, amenity migration, second house/residential migration. In this migratory phenomenon which is covered by different concepts, the migrants play an active role in transformation of the socio economic and spatial structure of the place. While they demand the facilities and uses that would allow them to sustain their habitutes (from entertainment to shopping and food) at home, the migrants affect the old ways in the daily lives of the places they settle and the value judgements of the local society. Within a short period of time, this change is accompanied by the loss of physical attributes of the places and peculiar qualities of the scenery driven by the real estate markets (the changed in housing typology, agricultural lands rapidly became built-up areas). This study is a comparative literature review aiming at positioning and evaluating Turkey among the destination countries. In the researches conducted independently a common feature is the fact that no precise statistical information is available on the share of amenity and/or lifestyle migrants in the overall population of the settlements. To render the impacts of this not statistically observable migrational wave visible is the main purpose of this study.
