Özet: Red has become one of the fundamental colors used from ancident times until the very day. Red which was seen firstly in the animal figures and hunt scenes in the caves attracts the attention as an indispensable color for many artists. Red that has the longest wave height enables a wide range of color and it includes many meanings in itself.  This study which examined red in art elaborates the etymology of red and how it is acquired. Besides the social, religional, critical and psychological meanings which are attributed to this color are also mentioned in the study. It is focused on the use of the color red and it is aimed to investigate thoroughly how red has changed in the works.
