Özet: The ready-to-wear sector keeps its labor-intensive structure despite the advancing technology. Process in the cutting department of ready-to-wear companies vary depending on the sizes of companies, physical and technology facilities, varieties of their products, varieties of models, qualities of employees and intercompany commissioning. Cutting departments contain many employees. Proper working environment and ergonomic technology are required for high productivity, health and safety of employees. The aim of this study is to introduce the ergonomic issues that cutting workers of ready-to-wear companies experience during the work time and to make suggestions for better ergonomic working conditions of the workers. Survey method was utilized in the research. A questionnaire was prepared for data collection. The questionnaire was applied to 248 cutting workers in Ankara, Istanbul and Eskisehir. Data was analyzed via SPSS software. Findings were exported to tables and analyzed by associating both internally and mutually. In conclusion, performance improving and ergonomics in the design the working environments of the workers in the cutting departments, where the savings on raw material occur, are found to be a must.
