Özet: This paper present a study on medical image retrieval method based on Gabor filters. After filtering the images using Gabor wavelet, texture features vectors are constructed by computing the mean and the standard deviation of the filtered image. The system construct the feature vector, computes the distance between the query image to all images in the database, through the comparison of their feature vectors, and retrieve then most similar images regarding this kind of feature vector. The results are promising that the retrieval efficiency is higher than %85 in general. The focus of this paper is to show the utility of Gabor wavelet transform on medical image characterization and its suability for image indexing and retrieval.
