Özet: One of the most significant problems encountered in steel structures is their insufficient fire resistance. This problem is eliminated by protecting structural steel elements through active and passive protection methods. Active methods are fire extinguishing systems implemented to make fire ineffective by controlling the fire as of its beginning. Passive methods are protective applications designed for steel structures by considering the emergence possibility of fire. In addition to such precautions, fire escape points should be identified during design stage of the building by taking emergence of fire into consideration. Regulations arrange rules regarding locations of fire-escape, their distance to the escape points, etc. In this study, fire protection methods of steel structures are evaluated in compliance with requirements of Fire codes.
