Özet: This study aims to investigate the basic problems and debates of the philosophy of social sciences; reveals the basic processes and developments related to the history of philosophy of science. In this context, we discuss the differences between natural sciences and social sciences in terms of the subject matter of objectivism/subjectivism of social sciences, the debate about methodological individualism and holism, the issue of social scientific explanation, the generality of social scientific knowledge and the existence of social scientific laws. Social sciences deal with two major acts: acts that explain social events with causal concepts, and acts that explain the meanings of events through cultural norms and subjective intentions. The paper discusses three main approaches in the social sciences: naturalism, interpretation and critical thought. The debate about which method is more appropriate for the social sciences and whether the social sciences are objective or subjective stems from the differentiation of the basic question asked for action. According to pluralist view, since the three questions of these approaches are equally important and meaningful, the pluralist methodology is more appropriate for social scientific investigation
