Özet: We express our thoughts, beliefs, traditions, emotions and cultural traits with the help of language. Language is the most important tool for the development of any society and human communication as well. Nowadays there is a strong demand for foreign languages used to develop and deepen international relations. In recent years, Turkey-Ukraine political, economic, cultural and educational relationships have been growing rapidly. Thus, the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language has become more important practice in Ukraine than ever. Because there is much need for the experts who know Turkish as a communication language in various fields. Although there are many different methods in foreign language teaching, there are still some difficulties in the Turkish language teaching process. The aim of this study is to provide information about the characteristics of Turkish and Ukrainian languages, the history of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, the difficulties faced by Ukrainian students while learning Turkish, and the opinions of the students participating in the surveys towards the Turkish language. In this study, after giving the theoretical information, the data obtained from the questionnaires are examined and information is given about the various problems faced by the Ukrainian students according to gender, age and learning process. Also, Ukrainian students’ causes of learning Turkish, the most difficult topics encountered in the Turkish learning process, the opinions about set lesson time for Turkish, the opinions about activities expected to be made at the Turkish language lesson and their attitudes towards Turkish and Turkey are examined and found out by analyzing the surveys. The target audience of this study is the teachers who want to give Turkish education to Ukrainian students.
