Özet: Feminism, a movement / theory / approach which is based on gender equality and advocates for women's rights, has undergone periodic transformations and been classified as waves. Feminist approaches in these waves offer solutions to the gender inequality that arises in different areas. In this respect, ecofeminism, one of the feminist approaches, points out that patriarchal mindset has been exploiting both women and nature by indicating that nature was destructed during and after the war. Ecofeminism asserts that patriarchal mindset is the reason behind women’s problems and environmental problems and argues that an egalitarian, a fair and livable life without oppression could only be achieved on the condition that environmental problems are addressed with a feminist approach. This study aims to address the origins of ecofeminism and the transformations it will undergo in the future and to make a general evaluation on ecofeminism. Basic principles and approaches of ecofeminism in the context of its historical process are revealed and its classification into different stages are emphasized. Having explored how ecofeminism can be implemented into fourth wave of feminism, this study is expected to contribute to that literature in the context of ecology and feminism.
