Özet: Comparative musicology, which traditionally makes assessments based on the laws and theories of natural sciences, tends to adopt a positivist ap- proach. The critical approaches that have emerged in the methodology of the natural sciences in the 20th century have led to a change in the study of sociology and, indirectly, in the study of comparative musicology. The most concrete indicator of this change is the transformation of comparative musicology into ethnomusicology, which assesses music within its context. Upon the acceptance of social and human sciences, which previously sought to resemble the natural sciences to establish itself, just enough to study the obscure and ordinary elements of daily life, the traces of daily life sociology are frequently observed in ethnomusicology, which focuses on understanding rather than adopting the judgmental characteristics of posi- tivism. This field of study, called ethnomethodology, focuses on reading individuals’ daily life experiences from a micro-perspective. This study ad- dresses ethnomusicology from the perspective of Alain Coulon’s book Ethnomethodology which discusses in detail the theories on daily life soci- ology and sociologists’ works.
