Özet: Abstract This research aimed to examine the following questions: “Is there a significant difference between the success averages in terms of high level scientific skills across the group in which the method of scientific research is used and the group in which it is not used? What are the views of students regarding the effectiveness of scientific research?” Quantitative and qualitative research methods are used and experimental design is employed. Two sections from the fifth grade at a primary school in Ankara are randomly selected. In the experimental group, the lesson is conducted using the method of scientific research and in the control group this method is not used. The experiment took two months. After the experiment, focus group discussion is carried out with five randomly selected students. The success average of the group who learned to use scientific method is found to be significantly higher than the group who did not use the method. Positive feelings towards science, scientific research and scientist are aroused in students who learned to use scientific research.
