Özet: Abstract The purpose of this study is to examine the place of Life Sciences course with regard to Social Studies and Science courses. The study was carried out through a case study within a qualitative design. In the process of designating the participants in the study, a purposeful sampling technique was used. Within the scope of the study, in the 4th grade Sciences and Social Studies courses, 27 hours of observation throughout 9 weeks and 10 interviews with classroom teachers were done. The results of the study show that in Sciences and Social Studies courses, Life Sciences course plays an important role in the process of activating students’ background knowledge and establishing connections to new knowledge. Classroom teachers also stated that Life Sciences course should be included in primary school curriculum and that this course is a pre--‐‑requisite for Social Studies and Science courses.
