Özet: This study aims to examine the effects of computer-assisted education on self-directed learning (SDL) process of pre-service teachers in teaching renewable energy and in increasing their level ofknowledge. Student teachers were facilitated from computer-assisted teaching through acquiring information via the Internet. Students’ basic knowledge on energy, energy sources, efficient andproductive utilization of energy was found to be quite inadequate. Internet-assisted education application resulted in an important increase in the self-directed readiness levels of students togetherwith the improvement in their self-learning abilities and abilities to determine their needs plan their learning and apply their learning plans. The evaluation results of the Renewable Energy knowledge test of 25 questions displayed a significant increase in students’ level of knowledge at the end of the internet-assisted education. Moreover, a statistically significant improvement was observed instudents’ attitudes towards computer (SATC).
