Özet: Women's employment and participation of women in trade unions in Turkey is a very low level. This is a fundamental problem for development. The ignorance or dormancy of the female labor force, which is one of the factors of production, is not only an economic loss but also a source of gender inequalities. Bringing women into the labor force and thus to the economy is a necessity of sustainable development. Turkey has lagged well behind other OECD countries and EU member states in this regard. In addition to increasing women's employment, unions have many duties in eliminating gender discrimination. Gender and discrimination between the sexs are the most important factors preventing women's trade union participation. Moreover, many studies also show that the main reason for the under-representation of women in trade unions is the sexist understanding that dominates the society, the family and thus the unions. Women's involvement in the decision-making and management stages of the trade unions as well as their participation in the unions is the key role in solving the problems in this context. In this study, the lack of women's representation in trade unions in Turkey and is investigating the source of this problem. Pointing to the reflections of gender discrimination at the union level, it emphasizes the importance of women's inability to participate in the management levels of trade unions in terms of social and economic policies. For this purpose, it brings together various reports and statistics with determinations and includes some suggestions on the subject.
