Özet: Planning is an act of building a foundation for the future, and so it is about imagining the future using scienti c data. The most basic component to be used when imagining the future in any planning work is population data. Every plan begins with a population forecast. A successful population forecast should predict population size as well as population structure and possible changes in population. Otherwise, it will not be possible to achieve a successful plan even if all the other components are correct.Reports from organizations such as the World Health Organization, OECD, and World Economic Forum indicate that aging will be one of the main global issues of the near future. The world must be prepared for this impending change. This transformation in population is expected to lead to many societal changes. New model proposals will be needed in areas such as health, education, social security, and employment. Among the areas requiring attention are the transformation of green area spaces into public usage places that meet foundational needs of society. The main components of green areas are plants and planting designs. With regard to both aesthetic and functional diversity, plants offer a wide range of variety and design potential. However, it is also known that there may be various restrictions and harm caused by wrong plant species selection and applications. Intrinsically, while planting design harbors many creative possibilities,, when the aging component is added, the subject then need be considered even more carefully. Potential changes in the population require implementation of specialized planting design in public spaces and nursing home gardens. This study examines the issue of age-friendly plant design from the selection of species to application types in the framework of aging. At the conclusion of the study, several suggestions are put forward for reaching age-friendly planting design.
