Özet: Family businesses are becoming one of the major study areas of private organizations. A sustainable growth and continuous existence for these organizations depends on a set of long lasting goals and formalization of their structure. In today’s rapidly changing conditions and a competition environment, transfering family businesses’ existence to the next generations, has grown much difficult. Institutionalization process is necessary for this statute-organizations to be managed properly in such an environment. Family business is an entrepreneurship of a family which ends by job formation. So we talk about an organization structure where the family holds the ownership, the management and the application of the job. Institutionalization is number of policies applied on all kind of interaction and communication in the organization what ever the subject is. Consequently an organization should identify appropriate written rules for all kind of processes, adopt a family constituti on and train following generation along this philosophy. Within this thought, we intended to analyze family businesses in the greater areas of Karabük city. The research population was about 8 family firms which represent different sectors and businesses. We have employed qualitative research techniques in the study.
