Özet: In the modern sense, the emergence of political parties begins in the mid-19th century. In world history –and especially in Western Europe-social divisions that are based on region, culture, class, religion, ideology and economy led to the birth of various political parties. Center-periphery conflict -which is one kind of social division- is one of the main reasons for the separation of the political parties in Turkey. Milli Görüş1 Movement (MGH) and its political parties, -which are risen as a significant representative of Islamic opposition in the early 1970s- caused to approach the center-periphery conflict –which was considered as data until then- from a religio-ideologic point of view. This study explains the concept of political party; types of political parties which are came up by the social divisions; social divisions that are specific to Turkey; Milli Görüş Movement (MGM); and finally Milli Selamet Party (MSP) and Refah Party (RP) that are belong to this movement (MGM) in the context of social divisions.
