Özet: Elderly/ageing is often met with negative attribution and perceptions. This situation is thought to be related to the assumption that the elderly individual is a burden on society rather than withdrawal from production, economic or social contribution. Retirement of the working, productive elderly, and thinking of old age together with chronic diseases and physical losses cause the old age to be perceived as an unwanted development period. In addition, the perception and expectations of elderly people about old age in society adversely affect the process of experiencing old age. The aim of this review is to examine the issue of old age and social exclusion in the light of the literature and to evaluate the results. International and national databases in (Pubmed, EBSCOhost, Science Direct, Ulakbim Medical Database, Turkey Citation Index) articles were screened contained between 2007-2018 years. In the Turkish and English keywords "elderly, old age, social exclusion, discrimination" were used. The negative attitudes of the society towards older individuals and aging also affect the health services provided to these individuals. Negative prejudice, values, beliefs, and attitudes of health personnel towards elderly individuals are also reflected in the quality of care given to elderly individuals. For this reason, it is extremely important to ensure that the health care team focuses on aging and aging issues and to raise their awareness. Changing negative prejudices about the old age in society and eliminating the exclusion will play an important role in order for the individual to experience the aging process in a peaceful, satisfactory, peaceful and enjoyable way with himself and society.
