Özet: Aim: This study was conducted to determine the effecting factors of nurses’ attitudes towards older people. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study conducted on the 306(%85.0) nurses working at a University Hospital. Data was collected through a questionnaire composed of sociodemographic characteristics, some factors that can be associated with attitudes towards the elderly and Kogan's Attitudes Towards Older People(KAOP) scale. Univariate and multivariate linear regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: Of the participants 84.1% was female. The mean(SD) of age was 29.3(6.8). Scores that gained from KOAP scale ranged between 55-212, its mean(SD) was 150.7(29.9) and its median was 153. According to the results of multiple linear regression analysis, income level and to want to live with their children when they are old were found to be related to attitudes of nurses towards older people (F:8.456; p<0.05). Conclusions: Nurses who have poor income level and those who want to live with their children when they are old, the attitudes towards old people found more positive. Qualitative studies may be needed to investigate the factors that affect the attitudes of nurses towards elderly.
