Özet: Preschool is a critical period in which the child gains the skills he will use throughout his or her life. In this period, the education received by the children supports the skills gained to be permanent and correct. In the process of education, the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the materials used affect directly the quality of education. One of the materials is children's books. It is considered important understanding the children’s books by teachers, having qualified and sufficient number of children's books. The aim of the study is to examine by using the opinions of teachers the importance of children's books for pre-school period and how much place they consist of in the education program. The Study group of this study is consisted of 40 pre-school teachers working in preschool educational institutions in 2018-2019 academic year, in Silopi district of Şırnak province. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data for the study. The data, then, was analyzed using the method of content analysis. As a result, it is determined that preschool teachers have information about which skills they should bring by using children's books but, they are not sufficent about what they should be able to choose the books according to which criteria. At the same time, it is believed that the number of books in their class is insufficient.
