Özet: This quantitative study investigates the relationship between leisure reading and its effect on belief and benevolence among post-basic education students (grade 11 and 12) in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. This study aims to describe students’ demographic differences at independent reading according to gender and grade. The study is based on the educators' concern in their research and writings of the community's low interest in leisure reading. It used the descriptive and correlation method. The researcher used the random stratified sample on 750 students. The researcher used two questionnaires designed by him. The first questionnaire is for measuring the level of leisure reading which consists of 20 paragraphs. The second one is for evaluating the level of awareness in belief and benevolence, and it consists of 18 paragraphs divided into three themes. The findings revealed that there is a statistically significant relationship between leisure reading level and the levels of awareness in belief and benevolence. The researcher emphasizes the importance of leisure reading for students by carrying out various activities such as reading competitions, reading carnivals and other activities. Lastly, the researcher urges religious educators to encourage leisure reading to better awareness of belief and benevolence.
