Özet: Aim: The aim of this study is to reveal the management skills and strategies of the owners of fitness centers, which is a sports and recreation initiative, to determine their needs in this area and to develop suggestions. Method: Qualitative research method was used in the study. The data were collected by one-on-one interview method. The interview form prepared for data collection consists of 40-item open-ended questions based on the main themes of planning, organizing, directing, coordination and control. Nine entrepreneurs who wanted to participate in the study from 12 fitness centers in Muğla Menteşe district were selected as a sample. The data were analyzed by content analysis method. Findings: The average age of the entrepreneurs participating in the study is 30 .33±6,06 Average years of experience in the sector were determined as 7.94±6,47 Participants often prefer to use bank loans when establishing a business. However, participants often emphasize the difficulties of obtaining government support. The most frequently used managerial strategies by the participants focus on the concepts of organization and direction. Conclusion: Business owner entrepreneurs use the concepts related to planning, organization, direction, coordination and control, which are management functions, to a certain extent and develop strategies accordingly.
