Özet: Trade is undoubtedly one of the indispensable requirements of life. Therefore, the history of trade has begun with the beginning of relations between people. The understanding of trade and market has existed since ancient time sand is firmly interconnected. Archeological and philological finding sare the most important sources in our knowledge about the first traces of the commercial activities of Anatolia. Located 25 km beyond Kayseri, Kültepe Mound has a collection of cuneiform tablets written in the Old Assyrian dialect dated to the first quarter of the 2nd Millennium BC. Most of these documents belong to Assyrian merchants and contain important in formation about the period called Assyrian Trade Colonies Age. Today, the number of these documents is close to 25,000, showing that there were mainly Assyrian merchants in Anatolia since the beginning of the 2nd Millennium. In this study, foreign traders who came to Anatolia about 4000 years ago and their commercial activities will be discussed.
