Özet: Turkey's Mediterranean gateway to the southern Anatolian has become an attractive settlement for settlers throughout history since prehistoric times. Even today it is of great prominence as settlement. In result of surveys and excavations, It is understood that there were settlements in South Anatolia in the Paleolithic, Neolithic and Chalcolithic Periods. We encountered settlements belonging to Paleolithic Period nine in Antakya and one in Mersin, no finds of this period have been found in Adana. None of the mentioned centers have any finds or settlements belonging to the Epipalaeolithic Age known to have lived after the Paleolithic Age. The region is encountered with a dense settlement belonging to the Neolithic turn of events, which are very important for the history of humanity. settlements belonging to Neolithic seventeen in Adana, nineteen in Antakya and eight in Mersin. Finally, in the Chalcolithic Age, which is known as mine devolution and the beginning of urbanization in Anatolia, settlement activities in the region continued to increase. Settlements belonging to Chalcolithic – twenty-nine in Adana, thirty-three in Antakya and six in Mersin. It was identified that most of prehistoric settlements were established in areas close to wetlands which is basic need of human life. Information which sheds light on these settlements is reached thanks to findings acquired as a result of surface surveys and excavations carried out in these areas. The aim of the study is to determine which of the first settlements of Southern Anatolia were in prehistoric times and how the region displayed an image.
