Özet: Historically, the name issue between Macedonia and Greece, which includes political, cultural and identity aspects, appeared on the political stage in the late twentieth century.The name debate that took place between the Republic of Macedonia and Greece, which started from 1991 when Macedonia declared its independence, stemmed from the two countries' perceptions of nationalism. Using the name of Macedonia, which is a historical concept used in the Balkans with reference to a region, the name of the Republic of Macedonia, which was established by the name of the neighboring Greece, has objected to the name of the neighbor, in order to force a change of name and to impose an economic embargo on the neighbor. It prevented the integration of the state into international organizations. The dispute between the two countries due to the name problem has not only negatively affected the relations between the two countries, but also the security and peace of the region. With this study, the name of the problem between Macedonia and Greece, the emergence of reasons, the development of the problem, the steps taken in the solution point, Prespa agreement will be examined.
