Özet: This study was carried out to compare three different breeds (Simmental, Holstein and Brown Swiss) for the response to the superovulation program and embryo quality. Cows from each breed which have given at least one birth and which are at the same age and conditions were used. Regardless of the period of the oestrus cycle, intravaginal CIDR (Pfizer Inc., New York, USA) implant including 1.38 g progesteron was applied to each cow and kept 9 days long. A total of 400 mg i.m. FSH (PLUSET/Laboratorios Calier) was injected twice a day during 4 days from 7th day after implantation of CIDR to cows. All animals were injected 150 µg d-choprostenol (Dalmazin/Vetaş) together with 5th FSH injection, and right after 6th FSH injection CIDR was removed. After the last FSH injection, in the 12th and 24th hours from the beginning of oestrus, cows were inseminated. Seven days after first insemination, embryos were collected via non-surgical uterine flushing. According to the results, superovulation response was better in Simmental cows than the others. The best response for superovulation in FSH hormone was also observed in Simmental breed cows.
