Özet: al-Âmirî examined the soul-body relationship in his work named Kitâbu’l-Emed ale’l-Ebed. This article aims to put forth how philosopher deal with the life after death as a philosophical problem. According to Âmiri, who deals with the human body through a duality, human consists of body and soul. The human soul is also divided into two: Sensual soul and intellectual soul. The sensual soul, that can perceive what is particular, possible, and temporal, requires the body to exist. The intellectual soul, that can perceive what is universal, compulsory and eternal, doesn’t need the body but there is a strong connection between the intellectual soul and the body. When examined in relation to the body, the intellectual soul is associated with the process after the death. The intellectual soul, that is self-righteous and doesn’t need to a body to be alive, don’t disappear with death. al-Âmirî states that every person who has the idea of creator will accept the existence of the life of the afterlife. The eternal reward idea that exists in mankind is the reason for this claim. The philosopher, pointing briefly to the existence of groups who don’t have the afterlife idea, centers those who accept the existence of the afterlife. From this point, philosophers’, Muslims’ and believers’ of other religions thoughts about the issue are discussed. During these evaluations, al-Âmirî stated that Muslims except for the Mu’tazilite were right in their opinions. However, according to the philosopher, this issue will become understandable when the Holy Book is taken to the center.
