Özet: The subject of taqdīm and ta’khīr is one of the important topics of maânī which is the branch of rhetoric (balâgha). Taqdīm and ta’khīr is a form of expression which provides for the speakers to describe in his mind better and disposes on a word. Although taqdīm and ta’khīr is one of the subject of balâgha, it was within the syntax (nahw) before balâgha was formed as a separate science. The scholars of nahw gave place to some topics of balâgha in their books. The fact that it was mentioned about the subject of taqdīm and ta’khīr in el-Kitâb, which is the first nahw book, provides our sayings. Although Halil b. Ahmed al-Farâhîdî was the first scholar to address this subject, he did not pursue a semantic meaning. On the other hand, Sibawayh, became the first scholar who researched for semantic interpretation because of dealing the effect of taqdīm and ta’khīr on meaning and analyzed taqdīm and ta’khīr in terms of balâgha. Sibawayh was made a relation between taqdīm and ta’khīr and inâyah/ihtimâm. For this reason, the approach of Sibawayh on taqdīm and ta’khīr is more important for the structure of our study. After Sibawayh added taqdīm and ta’khīr in his book, el-Kitab, this subject was considered by the later the scholars of nahw and they gave importance to this subject. In this study, we have compiled the views of the scholars of nahw on the subject of taqdīm and ta’khīr in their works, by observing the thoughts of these scholars.
